Show Cedar City Social Swing By Nola Kupfer Popular Cedar City residents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Banks, have been entertained extensively during the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Banks with their children will make a business trip to Billings. Montana, this week. Their plar.s Include returning to Cedar City to complete moving details, a flying trip to Denver, Colorado, won by Mr. Banks through his company, and then bidding friends goodbye as they head for their new home. Entertaining have been Mr. and Mrs. Max Walker who invited invit-ed the Banks to join them at Milt's Stage Stop and a delicious steak dinner followed by a movie. Boating and relaxing at the lovely mountain home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bradshaw was great-enjoyed great-enjoyed on Friday evening. More outdoor sport and good fun was on the agenda as Mr. and Mrs. Eugene T. Woolf invited invit-ed their square dancing group to the College cabin for dinner. Following Fol-lowing dinner entertainment around the campfire and the indoor in-door fireplace was filled with singing and merriment. The group came prepared with bed rolls and spent the night at the cabin. As breakfast was cooking early the next morning a trip to Bryce canyon was planned to include the families. The afternoon after-noon was spent at the National Park with their children to climax the going-away festivities. The same group was guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Schmutz at their parents' farm in New Harmony Har-mony where a chicken dinner was enjoyed. Following the delicious de-licious dinner the group square danced under the stars. Entertaining in honor of Mrs. Banks on Tuesday evening was Mrs. Richard Morris. The hostess invited members of her bridge, club and special guests Esther Tnleot and Betty Lou Walker.) Eri''ge was played during the evening with high scores being made by Beverly Clove and Jane Croft. The guest of honor was presented a lovely Candlabra-vase Candlabra-vase centerpiece as a going away gift from the group. Before their departure on Sun- day morning, the travelers spent the breakfast hour at the home of their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Anderson. The Summer Reading Club met at the home of Mrs. F. H. Petty for a most delghtful afternoon. President Florence Higbee intro-ti'jrH intro-ti'jrH the guest for the afternoon, after-noon, Mrs. J M. Palmer, who reviewed re-viewed Josephine Lawrence's "The Empty Nest," the story of a family which has grown and left its home. The ladies found the philosophy very Interesting and the situation one which most of them had experienced. Present for the afternoon's entertainment were fourteen members, the guest reviewer, and Mrs. Louis Palmer. Co-hostesses for the occasion were Mrs. Petty, Mrs. Agnes Struble and Mrs. Emma Nelson. Dinner, a campfire and visiting visit-ing were found most entertaining by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Knell, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Webb, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Guymon, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Berry, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Olds and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bauer as they gathered at Wood's Ranch . for an evening get together. Pinochle was played at the home of Jerry Berry last Wednesday, Wed-nesday, as she entertained club members and guests, Maxine Montgomery and Katherlrw ctout. awarding of prizes to M;s. btout the hostess served a refreshing plate luncheon. The Ami Fidel ladies gathered at the home of Mrs. Heber C. Holyoak on Friday evening for dinner and an evening of visiting. visit-ing. The ladies living on the East side of Main street were hostesses to club members living west of Main. The evening In the garden gar-den was very delightful. Mrs. Ellen Simklns visited in the northern part of the state during last week with her children child-ren and families. While in Salt Lake City she enjoyed the showing show-ing of "South Pacific." As Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hoyt i begin setting up housekeeping in their new home, they invited their friends to a housewarming Saturday evening. The group danced and played games which filled the home with merriment. Dinner was served on the patio to Mr. and Mrs. Hal Stout, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Mosdell, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Berry, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Leigh. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Gregerson and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Heyborne. Spending a few days In Salt Lake City are Mr. and Mrs. Chester Ches-ter Cripps and family. Duplicate bridge was played at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frances Fran-ces Betenson on Thursday evening. even-ing. The hostess invited Mrs. J. R. Strate, Mrs. Virgil Bird, Mrs. Lex Wilkinson and Mrs. Graham MacDonald to Join club members mem-bers for the evening. Prizes were won by Mrs. Fallas Olofson, Mrs. MarDonald. Mrs. Dcp Cowan and Mrs. Haze Hunter. Light refreshments refresh-ments were served. Mr. and Mrs. J. Vurge Cmith welcomed Mrs. Smith's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mezek and a sister Frances Masterson as they arrived for a few days visit from their home In Price, Utah. A pleasant rime was enjoyed by all concerned. |
