Show Experienced Organist To Reveal Techniques Porter Heaps, Columbia recording record-ing artist and one of America's finest organists, will present a special program of popular organ music and playing suggestions on stage at the College of Southern South-ern Utah on Thursday, Sept. i, it was announced by Reed Berrett of Berrett Music Company. Program Pro-gram will begin at 8:00 p. m. The program is designed toi please all, utilizing the unique talents of this nationally famous artist. His background varies from appearances as guest soloist solo-ist with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra to providing cue music for the famous soap opera "Back Stage Wife." He doesn't specialize In any particular kind of music. He isn't strlckly a concert organist church organist or a teacher. His program is flavored in all kinds of music which he expertly expert-ly adapts for the organ. Thursday evening Porter will talk about and play all kinds of music. Program Itself is especially designed de-signed for the home organist. He will discuss and demonstrate the absolute simplicity with which the organ can be played plus I such things as arranging popular music, special effects, registration registra-tion and other subjects that appeal ap-peal to those who want to play for fun and relaxation. An artist for two decades, Heap's career has been divided between the classics and the more popular tunes, giving him a wide understanding of both kinds of music and giving him a thorough understanding of the kind of music most people like to hear, and the way they prefer pre-fer to hear it. And, as a composer himself, he is scruplous about maintaining the original intention inten-tion of the music, letting it unfold un-fold in a fascinating sketchbook of sound.
