City Engineer Clemont Adams reports. The entire en-tire area of the city limits has been mapped and charted, Mr. Adams says, and will soon be presented to the City Planning Commission and City Council for final approval. The master plan of house numbering num-bering has been designed to keep a uniform system, simplify locations lo-cations any where in the city and avoid confusion a smuch as possible. It Is expected that the new master plan shouW go into effect within the next month, and changes, where necessary, will be made as soon as possible after approval ap-proval Is given. Since the entire city area is covered future changes should be held to a minimum, min-imum, Mr. Adams says. It was pointed out that there will be very few changes necessary neces-sary in the principal sections of the city, but this may not be the case in newly developed sections of the city, particularly South of 400 South Street and North of GOO North Street. Lots in all subdivisions have ibeen numbered and all lots In (new subdivisions that may be approved will be numbered at the time of aproval to avoid any confusion In future numbering. City ordinances provide that house must have a number that can be readily seen from the street and home owners are urged to make sure numbers a3i placed so that they can be easily seen. The ordinances also provides pro-vides that each house must be numbered within 30 days after it is occupied. The City administration, of course, must make sure that all streets are properly numbered or numbering of homes will not be effective. The complete numoer-ing numoer-ing of streets and homes should be done as soon as possible after final approval of the plan. Much work has gone into preparation of the system and It is hoped that all citizens will cooperate fully. Any property owner may varify his present house number or obtain ob-tain Information on a new number num-ber by contacting the City Engineer Eng-ineer Department. |
