Show Bonanza Air Gets Nod On New Low Fares i The Civil Aeronautics Board approved Bonanza Air Lines' pro- posed special low fares between Cedar City and Salt Lake City, between Salt Lake City and Phoenix Phoe-nix and Between Phoenix and the cities of Los Angeles, San Diego and Palm Springs. The fares were approved by the CAB over objections filed by American, Western, United and TWA, claiming that the fares were unreasonably low. The Board found that the new tariffs reflected an effort on the part of Bonanza to promote round trip travel of a commercial and resort nature which is consistent with the general program of fare experimentation ex-perimentation being encouraged by the CAB. The new round trip excursion fare for commercial travelers, which became effective April 5th, will be good any day of the week and return trip is to be made within 7 days. The new round trip fares between Cedar City and Salt Lake City is 27 dollars and will save the business traveler approximately 24 from the ex- isting first class fare between '.these points, and even below the special Bonanza excursion fare offered in the past. According to Larry Decker, vice president of traffic and sales for Bonanza Air Lines, the new low level fares can be expected to generate very substantial values of new and additional travel In this area, and can provide real stimulus to the economy. Decker said, "These new, low excursion fares offered by Bonanza Bon-anza are but the first step in Bonanza's new low fare policy designed to stimulate new and additional airline travel, and it represents the first serious effort on the part of any carrier to tap the vast potential of the short-haul short-haul intercity markets. "We are extremely pleased by the Board's approval of the first step in this program and are highly optimistic about the results re-sults expected, and as the demands de-mands for service increase in response re-sponse to this new fare level, we will add the required additional flights." |
