The river is reported to be sometimes flat, sometimes placid, but in deadly El Sumedera canyon is a raping torrent, and Is said to contain con-tain 30 rapids In a 17 mile distance, dis-tance, with cliffs along the bank 'lOiTk 200 iu 2000 feet hign. It was expected that the group would complete the trip by Dec. 17, but this did not prove possible. pos-sible. A number of reports have been brought back since. The river traverses some of the world's thickest jungles, which together with terrific heat in the area, made the trip even more perilous.
