Show PARAGONAH NEVS NOTES ! Mrs. HUma Lamoieaux Plans are underway for the annual an-nual Fourth of July celebration next week, and committees have been named to take charge of the different events of the day. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Edwards head the program committee for the morning meeting. Featured at this meeting will be Miss Penny Pen-ny Robb as Goddess of Liberty, Miss Lana Jean Topham as Miss Utah, and Douglas Murie as Uncle Un-cle Sam. Mr. and Mrs. David Dalton are in charge of the sports committee commit-tee and children's races. Frank Dnton is arranging evening fireworks. fire-works. The local building committee Is arranging noon food sales so that everyone can lunch together. Mrs. Hazel Dawn Evans has been installed as the new president presi-dent in the Ward Primary Organization. Or-ganization. She replaces Mrs. Koene Lund. Mrs. and Mrs. Gerry Thornton of Ogden were here during the week for a visit with the Earl Thorntons. Log ramie Robb of Salt Lake City was in town for the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Robb. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Martin of Sierra Madre arrived here Thursday Thurs-day to visit with Mrs. Melva Barton. Bar-ton. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Anderson . and children were here from Kanab Sunday to visit with Bishop Bis-hop and Mrs. James H. Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Woodruff Allen of Provo were here for a week end visit with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. II. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Robinson and the Joseph C. Barton Bar-ton family. Mrs. Alvie Edwards celebrated her 81st birthday Saturday. Family Fam-ily members joined her here for the occasion. John and Venice Foster were here from Salt Lake City, and the Ralph Edwards family from Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. Alma Topham, daughter Lana Jean and sons Clinton and Leslie enjoyed an overnight trip to Grand Canyon. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Robb of Cedar Ce-dar were Sunday visitors at the home of Bert's mother, Mrs. Clara Robb. Mrs. Catherine Dunton was home from St. George Saturday to attend the wedding reception for her grandson Kenneth Bet-tridge. Bet-tridge. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bettridgc en-Joyed en-Joyed an overnight visit from their son El wood of San Diego last week. Elwood brought his three little girls and left them for a visit with their grandparents. grandpar-ents. Dale Bettridge is here from Roseville, Calif., for a few days' visit with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Clark and family, Mr. and Mrs. Sandy Morgan Mor-gan and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lamoreau.x of Henderson, Hen-derson, Nev., are visiting in this area with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Renford Talbot and son Jerry traveled to Salt Lake City on Saturday to take their grandson Curtis Talbot home after several weeks' visit here. Miss Vesta Rae Barton was here from Salt Lake City recently for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Barton. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Nielsen and small son of Salt Lake City have been visiting here for some time with the Arthur Evans family. The Joseph E. Barton family and their guests, Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Scott and Miss Marsha Barton, Bar-ton, enjoyed a busy week. Tuesday Tues-day they made a trip to Lehman Cave. Wednesday they visited Bryce Canyon. Thursday they traveled to Zion Canyon, and the week end was spent in Horse Valley. The guests returned to California Monday. Stephen Tophom, son of former form-er Paragonah residents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Topham, arrived here from Roseville, Calif., Saturday, Satur-day, to visit with his grandmother, grandmoth-er, Mrs. Elva McBride. He will leave for a mission in the Southern South-ern States. DeeLynn, Kyle and Craig Barton Bar-ton are here for a two weeks' stay with their grandparents;, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Barton. Miss Sheila Barton has gone to Idaho Springs, Colorado, for a visit with an uncle and his family. fam-ily. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Abbott and members of their family were here from Murray for the week end. Mr? Alfa Dalton entertained the members of her club at her home Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Will Robb have received word of the birth of another an-other great-grandchild, a boy, bom to Bob and Patty Christiansen Christian-sen on June 18 in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Kay Lamoreaux and son Randy and Mrs. Evelyn Davenport left for Salt Lake City Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Daily and son Roger of Riverton, Wyo., are here for a week's visit with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hollingshead and son and daughter of Milford were Sunday visitors at the Jim Bettridge home. Mr. and Mrs. Ked Riding and family of Los Vegas are visiting here. Mrs. Ila Williamson, daughter Vieann and Mrs. Anna R. Williamson Wil-liamson left for Salt Lake City Sunday. Vieann will be in the city for special schooling for most of the summer. Mrs. Anna Williamson Wil-liamson will spend the summer with members of her family. Mr. and Mrs. D. Amasa Stones and Walter Talbot arrived home Sunday after a visit to the 'worms fair. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lund were here from Provo for the week end. The Paragonah Little League baseball team, managed by Doug Murie, won victories In two practice games played last week. They hosted different teams from Parowan and with . Randy Lamoreaux Lam-oreaux pitching and Leslie Topham Top-ham catching, put on a nice exhibition. ex-hibition. The boys have smart new baseball suits. Mrs. Margaret Scott of Henderson, Hender-son, Nev., visited here overnight with Mr. and Mrs. Will Robb. Craig and Myles Robinson visited vis-ited overnight in Cedar City last week with their cousin, Steven Edwards. Twenty-two piano students of Mrs. Wilma Lamoreaux will be presented in a recital Monday night, July 2. The recital will be held in the Ward Chapel and will begin at 8 o'clock. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. |
