Show Independence Day Activities Planned by City A full day of events has been planned by the civic groups of Parowan for the observance ol Independence Day. July 4, In the community, according to Mrs. Fae Benson, who is acting as publicity publi-city chairman for the celebration. celebra-tion. Activities will begin with a daybreak salute and the ringing of the bell In the old nxk church At 9:30 a. m. a parade will be staged featuring both miniature and larger floats with all church groups, clubs and businesses ofj the community urged to nartlci pate. In order for the parade to get under way at 9:30. all entries en-tries are being asked ry those in charge, to assemble on 100 South Street in front of the County Coun-ty Rest home by 8:30 a. m. so that the entries can be numbered and lined up for the event. Following the parade there will be a public patriotic meeting meet-ing In the Third Ward chapel, featuring "Uncle Sam," "The Goddess of Liberty," and "Miss Utah." as well as an orator of the day, according to those in charge. In the afternoon the annual rodeo and Race meet sponsored by the Red Hill Wranglers, will jho held at the city track and r deo area, with post time to be 2 p. m. In addition to a full card of horse races there will be an amateur rodeo, featuring brahma bull riding, bronc riding, roping and other events and equestrian games by the members of the Red Hill Wrangle! s. At 6 p. m. on the City park lawn there will be sports and games for the children and later lat-er In the evening there will he dancing, probably in the Third Ward recreation hall, according to Mrs. Benson. |
