Show Council Adopts Budget For Fiscal Year A $313,503 budget for fiscal 1962-63 was adopted by the Cedar Ce-dar City Council in regular session ses-sion Thursday evening. Final reading of the budget was made, some minor changes were authorized and the budget adopted. The budget was set on the basis of revenue expected jfrom a property tax mill levy ol 25.8, an increase, which was authorized au-thorized at a previous meeting, in minimum quarterly water and sewer rates. The combined rates are now set at $10 per quarter, according accord-ing to Mayor Kumen Gardner. A stiffening up policy concerning concern-ing the water department was also adopted by the council. The council authorized the levying of a five percent penalty for delinquent delin-quent water and sewer fees, with water to be shut off after 60 days delinquency with fees and penalties pen-alties to remain outstanding against the accounts. The fiscal budget is designed, according to Mayor Gardner to include a number of improvements improve-ments during the year. Sufficient funds have been allocated In the public safety department and the streets department for the purchase pur-chase of new equipment, includ-ig includ-ig two new police cars. Also budgeted bud-geted are funds for starting a sprinkling system at the Cedar City cemetery, for improvements at the municiDal oool. for im- provements at the Airport and also for the extension of the sewer system to accommodate the multi-million dollar high school now under construction In the southwest section of the city. In other activity of the eve-n.ng eve-n.ng the council met with representatives rep-resentatives of the Chamber of Commerce promoted development corporation. The corporation has been formed to aid in the acquisition acqui-sition of property and buildings in an effort to induce the establishment estab-lishment of Industries within the community. .The representatives discussed the possibility of the city accept-ing accept-ing title to the properties, and also the need for a cooperative effort of the city In the establishment establish-ment of roads, water and sewer facilities to the industrial zones as additional stimuli for industrial indus-trial firms interested In locating in the vicinity. |
