Show Cedar City Cancer Crusade Chairman Issues Call for Volunteers to Serve in Fund Drive A call for volunteers to serve during April in the 1955 American Ameri-can Cancer Society educational and fund raising crusade was issued this week by Mrs. Kent Dover, chairman of the campaign in Cedar City. Similar calls for volunteers in the various cities throughout the county have also been made. A list of the chairmen of the fund raising campaign in the various cities is as follows: Tara-gonah, Tara-gonah, Mrs. Jack Dalton; Paro-wan, Paro-wan, Mrs. L. W. Sorcnson; Summit, Sum-mit, Mrs. Ellis Bryant; Newcastle, Mrs. Gordon Knell; Lund, Mrs. Mary Johnston; Modena, Mrs. Joseph Jo-seph Haigh; Kanarraville, Mrs. Alton Ford; Hamilton's Fort, Mrs. Jim Cox; Beryl, Mrs. Claudia Ap-plegate, Ap-plegate, and Enoch Mrs. David Murie. A special meeting for all city and county volunteers and committee com-mittee workers will be held at El Escalante Hotel ballroom on Tuesday, Mar. 29 at 8 p. m. At the meeting appropriae ACS educational films will be shown. In addition to the campaign workers anyone interested in seeing see-ing these films is cordially invited in-vited to attend. Mrs. Dover, speaking for all of the city chairmen, explained that the cancer crusade has a mucji broader scope than Just the solicitation soli-citation of funds. "The volunteers," she said, "will not only be seeking contributions, con-tributions, but will be appraising the public of the latest discovered discover-ed facts about cincer. ACS literature lit-erature will be distributed by the campaign workers, which will describe common recognizable recogniza-ble symptoms of tl.e disease and will emphasize the importance of regular cancer check-ups." Mrs. Reed Berrett, head of the Iron County unit, also revealed this week that all preparations for the month long drive have been made. She reminded residents resi-dents that a goal of $24,000,000 has been set by the ACS. Iron County's portion of that national quota Is $1,500 .she emphasized. |
