What could be more important than a topnotch envoy en-voy of good will for a chamber of commerce Actually there is nothing that is more important to a chamber of commerce than the establishment of good will between the community it represents and other communities commu-nities within the same area. Many residents of Cedar City have overlooked the fact that the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce has one of the most outstanding good will bodies to be found anywhere any-where in the state in the form of the Master Singers. This group of citizens whose interest is in music and which has organized for the purpose of producing good music, mu-sic, has also served the community of Cedar City far beyond be-yond expectations. Not only has the group brought a feeling feel-ing of good will between Cedar City and other communities communi-ties throughout the state but it has furnished outstanding entertainment as well and has received recognition for its talent wherever it has gone. This evening, Thursday, the Master Singers are appearing ap-pearing in Elsinore to open the 1955 season and they have similar engagements tentatively scheduled in the near future. A look at some of the past performances of the Master Mas-ter Singers will bring out the point that the Master Singers are Cedar City's best public relations group. Here are some of the places they have sung since their inception in 1946: Las Vegas, North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Springdale, St. George, Enterprise, En-terprise, Beaver, Richfield, Ephraim, Mt. Pleasant, Spanish Fork, Brigham Young University at Provo, University of Utah at Salt Lake City, Utah State Agricultural College at Logan, Brigham Gty, Weber College at Ogden plus many concerts in Cedar City. In addition to these appearances the group has appeared ap-peared in the L D S Tabernacle in connection with a general gen-eral conference in Salt Lake Gty. For two seasons the group gave weekly concerts at the First Ward chapel in Cedar City for the Utah Parks Company. The praise of the group has thus been spread throughout the United States, and in all cases it has been connected with Cedar City. Looking over the occupations of the members of the group this year, it is still more revealing that they are actually a chamber of commerce within themselves. They represent all phases of business and represent practically all occupations within the city. Doctors, Lawyers, merchants merch-ants and chiefs they are all represented. Not a profit making group, the members ask only that their expenses be paid on these various excursions. This again makes the tie between the city they represent and where they appear more important. Hats off to our Cedar City Master Singers. |
