Show I Plans Approved for Vater Storage A long-planned storage reservoir reser-voir on the Arch Spilsbury ranch In the Kolob area of Cedar mountain moun-tain will apparently become a reality as the result of action taken last week by Washington County Water Association. Negotiations Nego-tiations were completed for the purchase of a tract of land on the Spilsbury ranch on which to build a 5,000 acre-foot storage reservoir. The land is located on Kolob Mountain on the north fork of the Virgin Kiver. The new project will be called the Kolob Reservoir and will be controlled GO per cent by the Hurricane Hur-ricane Canal Company and 40 per cent by the members of the St. George Washington Canal Company. The Water and Power Board of Utah has promised $152,000 for this project, which will be approximately ap-proximately three-fourths of the cost of It. A 55-foot high earth fill dam will be put in at the reservoir site, It Is reported. It is understood that the proposed pro-posed reservoir will eventually become a part of the Dixie Project Pro-ject on the Virgin River If and when that project becomes a reaillty. The project Is of importance to Cedar City since It provides a means of acquiring additional supplies for the city. Under a tentative agreement with Cedar City it Is understood that Washington Wash-ington County farmers will have exclusive use of the reservoir wa-tcr wa-tcr for five years, after wheih Cedar City will have the option of securing two-fifths of the water wa-ter by paying a proportionate amount of the project cost. In the event the Dixie Project is built Cedar City would have the option of obtaining all of the water from the Kolob reservoir, with the Washington County irrigation ir-rigation companies receiving their water from the Dixie Project.
