Show National Guard Week Proclaimed By Utah's Governor The week of March 25th to the 31st has been proclaimed National Guard week by Governor Govern-or J. Bracken Lee it was announced. announ-ced. Also in conjunction with this proclamation the National Guard units throughout the state will launch a concerted recruiting recruit-ing drive aimed at bringing all units in the state to full strength. It was pointed out by Lieutenant Lieu-tenant Colonel J. Frank Dalley, Commander of our famed 213th FA Bn, that now as never before be-fore a need exists for a strong reserve force to supplement the active armed forces. Highlights of the week's activities act-ivities will be the staging of the Utah National Guard Military Mili-tary Ball in Salt Lake City on March 25th, and the presenting local mayors with a framed scroll depicting the history of the National Guard. The National Guard is America's eldest Military Mili-tary Organization; In fact it is Just as old as the United States. George Washington was the first Guardsman and the men he mustered to free this country from the rule of England formed the first units. These same units are still part of the vast National Guard program that stands ev ready to musVor arid defend oui great country if so called upo to do. Mayor Arnold E. Anderson was presented a scroll from the local unit of the 213th FA Bn by Major Eugene T. VVoolf, battalion executive ex-ecutive officer, Wednesday afternoon. |
