Reports from the Las Vegas Test information office indicated that the cloud from the explosion explo-sion rose to about 40.000 feet before being blown slowly toward to-ward the ESE with wind speeds of five miles per hour near the surface and as high as 53 miles per hour. Fallout was recorded in Las Vegas, Nellls Air Base, Henderson Hender-son and Boulder City. After 'the detonation observors in the Control Point area saw melting pieces of the tower falling fall-ing from the rising column. The entire tower, observors report, was shattered, leaving only tower tow-er stubs and the concrete anchors of supporting guy wires. Fallout on Las Vtgas and vicinity vi-cinity was also very low and without any effects on health. In North Las Vegas the, total was 0.174 roentgen in estimated biological bio-logical exposure for one year, compared to an estimated guide of 3.9 roentgen per year by test organization officials. |
