Show First Security Bank Awards $11,000 To Scholarship Funds Arthur Gardner announced Thursday that the trustees of the First Security Foundation have appropriated $11,000 for scholarships scholar-ships and library grants at 12 colleges and universities In Utah and Idaho including the Col.'ege of Southern Utah at Cedar City, and for support of the 4-H and Future Farmers of America. The First Security executive added that this is the third year the foundation has providod the scholarships and grants. The foundation was established by the First Security Bank of Utah, N. A., and First Security Bank of Idaho, N. A., to promote and support sup-port educational, scientific, religious reli-gious and charitable enterprises. George S. Eccles is president of the Foundation. Trustees include: Marriner S. Eccles, George S. Eccles, Ec-cles, Marriner A. Browning, J. L. Driscoll, and Willard L. Ecc'es. Scholarships and grants totaling S'J.IOO have ben contributed to the following schools: University of Utah, Brigham Young University, Univer-sity, Utah State Agricultural Col-l.-ge, Weber College, Cc.'lege of Southern Utah, University of Idaho, Ida-ho, Idaho State College, Eoise Junior College, Ricks College, College Col-lege of Idaho, Northwest Nazar-ene Nazar-ene College, and Lewis and Clark Normal Co,' lege. "At the senior colleges, the scholarships are to be offered to students completing either the sophomore or junior year, to apply ap-ply to the following school year," Mr. Gardner said. "At the junior colleges, the scholarships are to be offered to students completing the freshman year, to apply to their sophomore year. Students selected must have a high scholastic scho-lastic average and be interested in banking and finance. The awarding ot the scholarships will be made through each school's scholarship committee, in col- ; laboratlon with the head of the J department or school of business. ; and a representative of the foundation. $ Award winning students will . be selected in the spring.
