Show Bronco Holiday Tournament Play Hwards Laurels to Fullerton Hornets Fullerton Junior College, fresh from the conquest of the Chaf-fey Chaf-fey Tournament in California, set into the College of Southern Utah memorial Fieldhouse Thursday and Friday to walk off with still more honors in the Bronco Holiday Holi-day tournament. The C S U Broncos and the Dixie RebeJs of St. George, both members of the I C A Conference Confer-ence hosted the visiting Cali-fornians Cali-fornians and the Westminster Parsons of Salt Lake City. In the opening round of play Thursday evening the Californ-ians, Californ-ians, undoubtedly one of the top, if not the top Jaycee club on the coast, trounced the Rebels of St. George in the opener by a score of 91 to 66. In the second game of the evening the Broncos downed a fighting Westminster crew by a score or 67 to 62. The victories pitted winners and losers los-ers in the second round of play Friday. In the first game of the dou- ble-heuder Friday eveninr; the Rebels of St. George showed considerably con-siderably more class against the Parsons, leading for a goodjy i share of the game. They were squeezed out by a 60 to 55 score' to place fourth in the tournament ' land give the Parsons thP third! 'place spot. Both teams scored a 'total of 22 field goals but the cold shooting of the Rebels at j the foul line spelled defeat. The Parsons hit 16 in 24 tries from! the foul Jine compared to 11 for, 20 for the Rebels. In the championship game the Broncos of C S U were downed' 72 to 65 by the aggressive Fuller-1 ton Hornets'. It was a game of, slow starting for the Broncos as they fell behind 16 to 4 and 18 to 6 with just a few minutes of the game played. I Coach C'eo Petty's starting five,1 consisting of David Orton, Vernon Ver-non Roundy Robert Hill, Ted Chi-dester Chi-dester and Wayne Allen, finally hit their stride midway in the first half as Orton and' Hill began be-gan to pound from the outside to put the Broncos back into the running, Fullerton threw up a zone defense that held the Broncos Bron-cos out for the early part and not until Orton and Hill had hit for four and three field goa.'s respectively re-spectively did the Californians revert to a man-to man defense. One Point Margin The Broncos continued their drive and at half time were behind be-hind by only a single point, 3G to 35. Fullerton gradually puUed away in the second half of play moving to scores of 40 to 30, 41 At that point the Broncos staged stag-ed their second outstanding rally of the evening. Orton hit one from the field and Stones of the Hornets hit a foul shot for a 50 to 46 score. Bob Davis then hit from the fie.'d and Orton again retailiated to tie the score at 50 all. With field goal'; from Roundy and Davis the Broncos took their first lead of the game 54 to 52. They moved to a 56 to 54 lead on an exchange of buckets buck-ets before Fullerton again regained re-gained the lead at 59 to 56 with eight minutss of playing time remaining. The Broncos never regained the jlea'l: however, thev were in con-tention con-tention for the remainder of th" game and were trd.'ing bv onlv five points when Fullerton scored in the final seconds for the final fi-nal 72 to 65 score.
