Show Water color Painting Donated to CSU By Harry Leith-Ross A gold medal winning painting by Harry Leith-Ross, "Horses of Heber" has been acquired by the College of Southern Utah. Termed as one of the nation's leading watercolor artists, Leith-Ross Leith-Ross entered the piece in the annuaj watercolor show of the National Art Club in New York to gain the coveted gold medal award. From New Hope, Pa. he was visiting professor of art during last year's summer session at CSU., He promised a painting to CSU, and while visiting in Heber, He-ber, drew the outstanding piece of work. Dr. Royden C. Braithwaite, director, di-rector, and Gaell Lindstrom, chairman of the art department, and termed as one of the leading watercolor artists of the country by Mr. Leith-Ross, expressed their appreciation for the work. "His paintings are always very clean-cut with a very direct approach ap-proach to his subjects," Professor Lindstrom said. "His reputation as an artist is widespread." At the present time "Horses of Heber" is hanging in Director Braithwaite's office, but will be rotated with the coljection of the college during the next couple cou-ple of weeks, Mr. Lindstrom announced. |
