Show ElmoW. Mortensen Receives Last Rites Tribute Funeral service were held in the Parowan Third Ward chapel at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon for Elmo W. Mortensen, native of this city, who died at Monrovia,, Monro-via,, Calif. Saturday morning of a heart attack. The services were conduced by Grayson Gurr, counselor coun-selor in the Third Ward bishopric, bishop-ric, and at the close of the services ser-vices burial took place in the Parowan city cemetery. Speakers at the services were IBishop Howard M. Adams of the Third Ward; Edward A. Tarry of Cedar City, and Mrs. Delia Gurr, who read sentiments to the bereaved be-reaved family, with brief remarks re-marks by Mr. Gurr, who conducted conduct-ed the services. The opening prayer was offered by Harvey Adams, the benediction was by Arnold O. Gurr, and the grave was dedicated by Walter Mortensen, Morten-sen, a brother of the deceased. The prayer at the home preceding preced-ing the services was by John W. Bent ley. Musical numbers on the program pro-gram were as follows: opening song, "There's a Beautiful Country," Coun-try," by a double mixed quartet consisting of Alice Mitchell, Ber-trude Ber-trude Mitchell. Berta Burton. Ruth Jensen, Wilford Young, Eugene Eu-gene Orton, Harold Mitchell and Howard Ward, accompanied b Mary Lyman; an organ duet. "The Rosary." by It ha Mortensen and Orna Johnson; a vocal trio "I Love You Truly," by Elna Halterman, Hal-terman, Shirley Evans and Ra-mona Ra-mona Stubhs, with Itha Morten sen at the piano, and the closing song "The Lord's Prayer" by the double mixed quartet. Orna Johnson was at the organ for the prelude and post hide. Mr. Mortensen was born in Parowan Oct. 21, 190'), a son of Joseph E. and Isabelle Ward Mortensen. He attended local schools and was a graduate of the Parowan High School. On July fi, 1037, he married Miss Laura Pearly Bentley, also of this community and they have lived in California since that time. At the time of his death Mr. Mortensen was an operating engineer for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He is survived by his widow. 1 two daughters, Jean and Lynda Pearl of Monrovia; three sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Beth Montgomery, Santa Barbara.
