Show Annual Scout Camp Plans Outlined Everything is in readiness for the first annual Cedar Breaks District Boy Scout Encampment, scheduled for Navajo Lake Boy Scout camp on July 2G through July 31, it was reported this week by Newel Wasden, district president. The camp is for Boy Scouts and Explorer groups it was emphasized. All interested boys have been advised by the district leaders to contact their scout masters and particularly to make arrangements ar-rangements for physical examinations exami-nations that must be had before attending the camp. Health and Sanitation Chairman, Dr. Reed W. Farnsworth, will conduct the examinations. During the past two weeks a group of district scouters, businessmen busi-nessmen and civic club representatives repre-sentatives have installed a completely com-pletely new water system at the camp In readiness for the first annual event. Also improvements improve-ments and necessary sanitary facilities fa-cilities are being completed. Day-time Activity Extensive educational daytime day-time program has been arranged by a committee including Gordon Gor-don Williams, chairman; Eldon Yergensen and Ray Knell. Activities, Activi-ties, such as scout advancement and merit badges, signaling, swimming (limited and supervised), super-vised), fishing, nature hikes and conservation will be given at the camp. Schedule Outlined A tentative schedule has been arranged beginning with revielle a 6 a. m., roll call and flag raising rais-ing ceremonies at 6:10 with breakfast scherudel for 6:30 a. m. Following breakfast the boys will prepare their camps for inspection inspec-tion at 8 a. m. with day-time activities ac-tivities from 8 to 12 noon. A rest or free time will be given the lads from 1 to 2:30 p. m. with equatics the principal activity from 2:30 to 4 p. m. There will also be eampfire activities and program in the evening. The programs, pro-grams, both entertainment and educational, will be under the direction of Sheldon Olds, chairman chair-man and Rev. Wm. Burrton, and Bishop Paul Stokes. Special Instruction Several scouters of the area will be at the camp to instruct in handicrafts, skills and special activities. Representatives from the Forest Service, Soil Conservation Conserva-tion Service, Bureau of Land Management, Tarks Service and the College of Southern Utah will teach the boys various phases phas-es of outdoor living. Lewis McCIellan, district scout-er, scout-er, will bo at the camp at all times and will assist Wasden and the district committee in conducting the activities. |
