Show Aladdin Never Had It So Good Aladdin never had it so pood. He could have had anything he wanted at a rub of the lamb. But Aladdin couldn't imagine some of the miracles mira-cles which may be realities by 1976. Here, for example, is an estimate of tomorrow's magic by that rather august body, the National Association of Manufacturers. The N A M says that if there is error, it is probablv on the side of undcr-estimation: By 1976 .... Junior will have a Dick Tracy two-way radio! Television will be in true-color and three-dimension! Push-button materials-handling virtually will eliminate elimin-ate hard toil! More and more manufacturing processes will be automatic auto-matic from raw materials to finished, packaged products! You will be able to dial any telephone in the United States maybe any telephone in the Western Hemisphere! Hemis-phere! Lathes and stamping equipment will operate from instructions in-structions recorded on magnetic tapes! Mrs. America, 1976, will have an electronic kitchen with radar and soundwaves heating pre-packaged meals! Moving sidewalks and station platforms will take the "umph" out of walking just as escalators now take the strain out of stair climbing. Hit city streets may well be air-conditioned! Don't discount trips to the moon! Penetration of the so-called "thermal barrier" will release unimaginable development de-velopment for aviation. Inter-urban railways may yield to the overhead monorail mono-rail carrying jet propelled streamlined cars. Transoceanic freight-carrying rockets will zoom back and forth on regular schedule across the oceans. Arthritis, cancer, heart disease and a host of other present-day killers will be greatly reduced if not entirely en-tirely routed. Large structures such as bridges, ships and buildings build-ings will receive long and lasting protection against sea water, weather, smoke and chemicals from a flame-spray flame-spray which will shoot porcelain materials onto surfaces. The list is virtually endless and it is not whimso-cal, whimso-cal, says the N A M; it is well within the realm of reality .... by 1976. |
