Show Six Women's Softball Teams to Stage Annual Tournament Six women's softball teams, representing southern Utah eastern east-ern Nevada and Boulder City, New. will meet in Cedar City on Thursday. Fridav and Saturd. iv. July 22, 23 and" 21 for the annual an-nual softball tournament staged by the Cedar City Women's Association, As-sociation, according to Mrs. Fred L. (Tilliei Biederman. president. Representing the Cedar City league will be Milt's Cirrus Lounge, Hicdcrman Herefnrd Ranch, and Thornton Drug. Other teams include Rocky Mountain Service of St. Jeorge, a team from Boulder City. New and a team from Caliente. New The six teams will kick off the tourney next Thursday under the lights of the local softball park. Rocky Mountain Serv ice has already al-ready beaten the two stronger Cedar City crews in pre tournament tourna-ment play and will probably draw the favored vote of most fans. However, the Boulder City-crew City-crew has been in the championship champion-ship game for the last two years and may come up with a strong team again this year although their strength is not too well known here. I Biedermans, behind the pitching pitch-ing of Maudell Smith, is the local lo-cal favorite although they have previously been beaten by another an-other entry, Milt's Circus Lounge. Caliente fielded a rather weak team in inter-city play Tuesday-night Tuesday-night here, but they will probably prob-ably "pad" their roster with other girls to come up with a stronger entry than was indicated in that game. i i |
