Show Local Lions Quartet Wins Second Place in Competition The Cedar City Lions club quartet, now singing under the name of "The Tradesmen," walked walk-ed off with second place in International In-ternational competition at the annual convention of Lions Clubs in New York last week. A quartet quar-tet from West Virginia won first place in extremely close competition compe-tition with the Cedar City group, i The Tradesmen gained a berth in the international contest by I w inning first place in Utah ear- lier in the summer. This is the second time the quartet has placed second in the I international contest, and one other time they competed they won top honors, making a rather remarkable record of one first and two seconds in three years of competition. In addition they sang at the international convention conven-tion in Mexico City on special invitation in-vitation from the international president. The members of the quartet. Herschel Neeley, Howard Wood, Reed Roberts, and Forrest Hunter, Hunt-er, with Reed Berrett, director and accompanist, and their wives will return home next Monday. While on the trip to the convention at New York, besides participating in the contest and other convention conven-tion activities, the group has vis-ited vis-ited many interesting places in '.the East. |
