Show Preparations Hurried For College Drama Presentation Extensive preparations are going go-ing forward for the presentation on Mar. 24 and 25 of the classic Greek plays "Oedipus Rex" and "Antigone" by the drama department depart-ment of College of Southern Utah. The two plays of Sophocles, specially adapted for presentation presenta-tion as one evening's performance, perform-ance, are under the direction of Prof. Richard M. Rowley. This will be the first production on the stage of C S U's new half-million dollar theatre-library building. build-ing. The performanice on Mar. 24 will be an evening presentation, pre-sentation, and will begin at 8 p. m. For the second performance an afternoon time has been chosen, cho-sen, with curtain time set at 2 p. m. The afternoon time has been chosen because of conflicting conflict-ing engagements for that eve ning, and also for the convenience conven-ience of out-of town patrons who will attend. A special setting of heroic proportions pro-portions is being built under Professor Pro-fessor Rowley's direction, depicting depict-ing the palace of Oedipus, King of Thebes. Colorful and authentic authen-tic Greek costumes are being made under the supervision of Miss Sherlene Jensen, sophomore student from Enterprise. Rehearsals are under way nightly with two casts of principals princi-pals and a chorus. In the cast of the "Oedipus Rex" are Keith Tat-tersall. Tat-tersall. Beaver, in the title role, with Evva Joan Pryor, also of Beaver in the role of Jocasta. As Creon is Clark Ronnow, Panaca, Nev.; Teiresias, blind prophet of Loxias is Franklin D. Williams, Minersville; The Corinthian, Dale Workman, Delta, and the Shepherd, Shep-herd, Charles Topham, Parowan. The title role in "Antigone" is portrayed by Earlene Steele, Delta, Del-ta, with Crean played by Lane Ronnow, Panaca, Nev. As Iswene is Sonya Nielson, Monroe; as Ha-mon, Ha-mon, Stan Ivie, Salina and as Eu-ridice, Eu-ridice, Carol Ann Matheson, Parowan. Paro-wan. Mr. Williams plays the role of Teiresias in the second play also. |
