Show Region Six Music Festival Held at Hurricane Approximately GO students of the Cedar City High School traveled trav-eled to Hurricane Wednesday, Mar. 9 tJ participate In the Region Re-gion Six Solo and Ensemble Music Mu-sic Festival. The group was under the direction direc-tion of Eugene Helland, instrumental instru-mental director at the school, and Wallace Adams, vocal director. Final results, which will place the groups in first, second or third divisions, have not yet been received. However, they will be published in the next edition of the Iron County Record. Two numbers from the Cedar City delegation were selected, however, as outstanding selections selec-tions and performed in a program pro-gram at the culmination of the meet. Richard Heywood was selected se-lected as outstanding for his trumpet solo work and a trumpet trum-pet trio, composed of Heywood, Alan Roberts and Lawrence Fret-well, Fret-well, were also among the outstanding out-standing selections. Judges at the festival included Ralph Haycock, director of the B Y U band; Jay Campbell, Adams College in Colorado;. Richard Rich-ard P. Condie, assistant director of the Tabernacle choir; Dr. John Halliday, head of the music department de-partment at B Y U, and Newell B. Weight, a capella chorus director direc-tor at B Y U. |
