Show Guard Unit Receives Silver Award For Camp Activities The National Guard Silver Award for Efficiency in Training Train-ing was received by the Headquarters Head-quarters and Headquarters Battery Bat-tery of the 202nd Field Artillery Battalion, now the 213th, according accord-ing to battalion commander, J. Frank Dalley. The award was made for the outstanding training while at summer camp in June 1954. The citation signed by Maxwell E. Rich, Brig. General, Utah NG. read In part as follows: "I commend you and the members mem-bers of your unit for your excellence ex-cellence which resulted In this honor. "Qualifications for this award indicates the awareness of your unit of the responsibility which the National Guard bears in the preparedness of the U S A." An indorsement to the letter by William F. Weile, XI Corps Artillery Commander, added additional ad-ditional prestige to the local unit. Wednesday the local unit received re-ceived an excellency rating from the Inspector General of Sixth Army, who Is in the area making a formal tour of the units. During the afternoon session the inspection team, headed by Lt. Col. Nolan of Sixth Army, viewed the records, supply, administration, ad-ministration, equipment and permlses of the battery. A formal inspection of troops was held by the team at 7:30 p. m. and class instruction was observed from 8 to 9:30 p. m. Brig. Gen. Maxwell B. Rich, made the tour of inspection with the team as did battalion commander com-mander Dalley. |
