Show Two Criminal Cases Acted Upon in District Court Session Two criminal cases, involving Indians, were acted upon by Judge William Stanley Dunford of Provo who presided at a one-day one-day court session in the Fifth Judicial Ju-dicial District at Parowan Wednesday, Wed-nesday, July 27. Judge Dunford served on the invitation of Judge Will L. Hoyt who was busy elsewhere In the district. In one case, the State vs Clifford Clif-ford Jake, Jake pleaded not guilty to a charge of rape, and the case was set for trial September 14. The Indian is accused of having attacked a Beryl housewife June 11. He had apparently been on a drinking spree the previous evening. In the case of the State vs Jackie Jack:, the Indian pleaded guilty to the charge of resisting an officer and was sentenced to one year in the County jail. How-ever, How-ever, after reprimanding the defendant, de-fendant, the Judge suspended the sentence with the exception of 47 days which had already been served. He is to report in writing to the adult probation officer every three months. |
