Show Radio Towers Go UpforKSUB Added Power Work began this, week on the erection ot one of the two 300 foot transmitting towers which 'will be used by radio station KSUB to take care of its increas-ed increas-ed power which will go into effect ef-fect some time this fall. The towers are situated at the transmuting site which is located lo-cated seven miles west of Cedar City at the Junction of the Iron Mountain and Desert Mound roads. One tower Is already here and twins erected; the other is en-route en-route to Cedar now from the East. The towers, when installed rest aa a small Insulator at the base, which measures only six Inches across. Guy wires stabilize stabil-ize the balance. When completed, seven miles of copper wire will radiate from each tower. The wire has already alrea-dy been put In underground and extends for 300 feet from the tower In every direction like the spokes of a wheel. Plans for the construction of the building at the site have been delayed, with no bids having hav-ing been called for yet. The preliminary field tests I conducted in southern Utah proved successful, and it is estimated esti-mated that the station, with the new power of 1,000 watts, will have an effective radius of over 100 miles. With the increase in power, a new wave length of 590 KC will go into effect |
