Show New State Traffic Code Now Effective A new traffic code will go into effect in Utah immediately as the result of extensive amendments amend-ments of the state code by the recent legislature. The newly adopted law amends many sections sec-tions of traffic statutes and places Utah among the first state to adopt the most recent National Vehicle Code. Traffic officers throughout the state will immediately apply the new code in their never-ending war against highway tragedy. The major points included in the new code are as follows: 1. If analyisis shows a driver has ,15r,r or more by weight of alcohol in his blood, it shall be presumed the defendant was under un-der the influence of intoxicating liquor. 2. It is unlawful for any person, per-son, who si an habitual used of any narcotic drug which renders him incapable of driving a vehicle ve-hicle sofely,' to drive a vehicle in Utah. 3. Local authorities may determine deter-mine and declare reasonable and safe prima facie speed limits on state highways, but in no event less than 35 mph. 4. No person shall engage in any motor vehicle contest or exhibition ex-hibition of speed on a state highway. high-way. 5 Any vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic shall be driven in the right lane or as close as practicable practi-cable to the right hand curb or edge of roadway. 6. Vehicles in a motorcade or caravan shall be driven to allow al-low sufficient space between each vehicle to enable any other vehicle to enter and occupy such space without danger. 7. Where sidewalks are not provided, any pedestrian shall walk only on the left side of the roadway or its shoulder facing traffic. 8. Registration of any vehicle may be revoked or suspended if its brakes do not comply with provisions. |
