Marsden, Jr., a member of the club and Senator from Iron and Washington counties. Mr. Marsden Mars-den devoted most of his discussion discus-sion to matters pertaining to the budget, the adoption of which proved to be one of the .major tasks of the legislature. Commenting on Governor J. Bracken Lee's action In vetoing many Items of the budget bill, Senator Marsden. expressed the opinion that had a more conservative con-servative total budget been adopted the Governor's action would not have been so drastic. "It is unfortunate that it became necessary to veto complete items and thus seriously curtail the action ac-tion of various departments", Senator Marsden said, "but this was the only avenue open to the Governor if he was to accomplish accomp-lish economies he had pledged himself to." In addition to Senator Mars-den's Mars-den's talk the club members present also enjoyed a couple of vocal solos, "Come You Back to Mandalay", and "The Rosary" by Benny Qulnn, accompanied by Mrs. Beth Leigh. |
