Show Broncs Meet Dixie In Final Home Game Of Season College basketball for the season In Cedar City will come to an end Friday night, with the Branch Agricultural Ag-ricultural college Broncos meeting the Dixie Flyers from St. George and fighting desperately to grab a share of the Intennountain Junior College Utle. A week ago the game against Dixie looked like Just another game between the traditional rivals, with possession of the famed "battle axe" the only real Issue at stake. Now however, as the result of the apparent ap-parent "folding" of the Broncos Dixie looks like a real threafand a victory for B. A. C. Is a must. The Broncos lost to Snow college col-lege Friday night, which left them In a tie with the Badgers for first place. Saturday night, however, they skidded Into second place and apparently right out of the championship, cham-pionship, by turning ln their poorest poor-est game of the season and loslr.g to Westminster college at Salt Lake City. It was the only victory of the season for the Salt Lake team. The only chance the local team has of even earning a share of the conference title Is to win from Dixie Friday night and have either Carbon or Mesa tip Snow. Of course, If Snow should lose both its games this week the Broncos could grab the title. Coach Ray Llndquist's Broncos won two earlier games from Dixie rather easily, but the showing of the two teams last week end makes it look like the Broncos will have a big job on their hands beating Dixie Friday. The Flyers won from Westminster and played a little better against Snow than did BAC. The Llndquist team had clinched a place ln the Western States tournament tour-nament at Compton, California, be. fore losing last week, and will compete com-pete with V en of the best Jaycec teams of tlie West deluding the Snow Badgers, ln the Compton meet. |
