Show Elks Set Plans For Annual Southern Utah Championship Matches The dates for the Southern Utah A. A. U. boning tournament to be sponsored by the Cedar City Elks lodge, have been definitely set for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday February 26. 27, and 28 according to Leonard Smith chslrman of the committee In charge. Nearly one hundred boxers will be entered in the tournament, Mr. Smith states, with good representations represen-tations In all weight divisions assured. as-sured. Invitations have been extended ex-tended to the athletic departments of all high school in southern Utah, and of the Branch Agricultural college, col-lege, and Carbon, Snow and Dixie Junior colleges to enter teams, and many of them have indicated that entries will be made this week. In addition a number of schools from Nevada are sending boxers and unaffiliated un-affiliated entries from various parts of this section have been received, Mr. Smith said. A special award will be given the outstanding performer of the meet, and the winner in each division will receive a medal. Winners at the local meet will be entered In the Intermountaln AAU championships at Salt Lake City next month, with the Cedar City Elks meeting all expenses of those who enter the Intermountaln joust. The bouts will be held In the Armory and tickets will go on sale early next week. |
