Show Statement Of Power Co. Manager Clarifies Recent Rate Increases It Is reported to the general of-flee of-flee of the company here that a large number of customers are under un-der the Impression that the recent order of the Utah Public Service Commission provided for a general rate Increase for all classes of electric elec-tric service. So states Ralph R. Thomas. General manager of the Southern Utah Power Company today, to-day, in a general statement to the Press. The only, rates that the Commission's Commis-sion's order effects are: A slight increase In rates for Irrigation Pumping, and a Fuel Clause adjust-tnent adjust-tnent on all energy sold for mining purposes. No changes were made In the rates for residential, water heating, heat-ing, commercial lighting, or small power service. Commercial custom- ers who also have power loads of less than 10 horsepower connected, may now secure a combined billing for both lighting and power service through one meter, which will effect a savings over a seperato billing for each class. Customers of this class should contact the service department depart-ment of the company to secure full particulars. Additional generating and transmission trans-mission facilities for 1948 are now arranged for, and construction has already started. These additions to the property will be completed and in use by June 1, 1948, before the heavy Irrigation season gets underway. under-way. Southern Utah Power Company has made many additions and improvements im-provements to it's system during the past five years, and have made net expenditures of (704,929 during that time, of which $239,350 was in the year 1947. The 1948 construction budget provides for additional expenditures ex-penditures of $300,000. The common stockholders of the Company have not had a dividend since the year of 1931, as all available earnings have been used for construction pur. poses during this period. The two rate increases mentioned above will be effective on March use, payable April 1, 1948. |
