Show Enterprise Lists Soil Conservation . Work During the past year many accomplishments ac-complishments have been recorded In soil and water conservation in the Enterprise District according to Arthur J. Barlocker, chairman of the District Board of Supervisors. The main emphasis has been on practices concerned with the proper prop-er use of Irrigation water, such as cpnstruotion of headgates, overnight over-night storage ponds, improved methods of water application and land leveling. At the present time there are 74 farmers who have farm and ranch conservation plans signed between the District and themselves. These plans cover a total of 22,135 acres of which 4,340 acres are irrigated, 178 acres non-lrrlgated and 17,617 acres range lands. Some of the accomplishments of the Enterprise District this past year and to date are: 409 acres (this year) of land leveling, 1,487 acres (to date) of land leveling; overnight storage ponds, 22 and 54; stoclc water developments 7 and 17; small Irrigation structures, 182 and 507; seeding range land, 229 and 1,230 acres; land cleared of brush, 296 and 588 acres; new ditch construction con-struction this year and to date, 23,960 feet; diversion dikes, 2,770 and 18,291 linear feet; and irrigated irrigat-ed pasture, 12 and 127 acres. The Enterprise irrigation company has also asked the District for assistance as-sistance and during the past year has completed realigning a portion of their canal, construction of en overshot structure on Cottonwood wash, repaired their under current dam and constructed several new headgate structures. Technical assistance as-sistance for carrying out the above practices was made available to the District from the local Soil Conservation Con-servation Service. |
