Show 4-H Club Outing Attiacts 389 Boys and Gills One of the largest gatherings of 4-H boys and girls from Iron county alone was held last week when 389 registered at Duck Creek camp grounds for the annual an-nual 4-H Club Oullng on Aug. 3, 4 and 5. The group included 4 H boys and girls from all over the county coun-ty between the ages of 10 and 21, and their club leaders. Elected as Camp Mayor for the three-day affair was Renee Jones of Enoch. Camp Secretary was Marie Adams of Parowan, while Rayma Thornton of Para-gonah Para-gonah was elected camp historian. histor-ian. Committees which planned the camp in advance to help make it a success were Renee Jones and Barbara Mae Grimshaw, Enoch, recreation; Ray Cox and Henry Vandenberghe, Hamilton's Fort, and Virginia Orton and Merna Halterman, Parowan, registration; reg-istration; Max Maxwell, Cedar City, and Janice Jones and Miss Grimshaw, Enoch, police; Dale Perkins and Jackie Flanigan, Cedar City, Program; Enid Bryant, Bry-ant, Cedar City, flaj? raising ceremony; cer-emony; Carol Ann Matheson and Joyce Halterman, Enoch, Judging and awards. In charge of the camp was Stephen Brower, Iron county agricultural ag-ricultural agent. He was assisted by Fern Shipley, assistant state 4-H club leader, who helped with the handicraft; Ray Moore, state extension forester, who helped with the nature studies, and W. E. Tangren, state assistant fire warden, who also helped with the nature studies. Skits and songs performed by the clubs in a competitive basis on two evening programs were felt by those in charge of the camp to be "exceptionally good". Handicraft work this year was in copper. , |
