Show Petition Is Circulated Asking for Conservation District Enterprise: Arthur J. Barlocker, Washington county commissioner, commission-er, of Enterprise has recently announced an-nounced that a petition is being circulated in Enterprise asking for the completion of the county-wide county-wide water conservation district dis-trict for the Dixie project. Mr. Barlocker reports that Enterprise En-terprise is the only town remaining re-maining In the county that has not approved this conservation district. This project which is under the direction of Wallace Mathis, county chairman, in co-operation with the county commission, will Include two dams, one In the northeastern part of the county on the Virgin River and one in the western end of the county on the Santa Clara creek near Gun-lock. Gun-lock. The dam on the Virgin will also have three power plants installed in-stalled as part of the project. Mr. Barlocker said that when this project is completed that it will more than double the cultivated cul-tivated acreage in the county, therefore increasing the valuation valua-tion of the county. The veterans veter-ans will have firs chance at the land to be served by the water. Also, Enterprise will receive re-ceive the benefit of cheaper electrical elec-trical power in a few years. |
