Show College Campus Gets 'New Look' Branch Agricultural college campus is being given a "new look'" in preparation for the opening open-ing of the Fall term September 13, with extensive repairs and remodeling going on in the major buildings. A large crew of workmen under the direction of Held Cox, director of tepairs and the college building build-ing and Grounds committee. In "Old Main", (the science building) build-ing) a new physics room, a new geology room, an office for the registrar, an office for the dean of students and a student guidance guid-ance and personnel center have been added. The additional space was made available by the removal re-moval to the student union building of the bookstore and cafeteria and the student body offices. The switchboard and faculty fa-culty post office have been removed re-moved to new quarters from the treasurer's office. The walls and ceilings of the science building halls are being refinished with building board ceilings, and tile and building board panels for the walls. New floor coverings are being laid on the hall floors, with stair tilings and new stair casings for the main stairways. The ceiling of the music room has been lowered, and acoustic material installed. In the auditorium, audi-torium, a new heating and ventilating venti-lating system is being put in, and a modern fire escape installed in-stalled on the west. A similar fire escape has been installed in the Library building also. Halls of the library building are being renovated, with inlaid in-laid linoleum for the main floor. Most of the classrooms on the main floor are also being re-finished re-finished with building board panels which will improve their acoustics. The ceiling of the library reading read-ing room is to be lowered and acoustic material applied to ceilings ceil-ings and walls. The same treatment treat-ment will be given the art department de-partment office. The outside of both buildings will be painted, and the foundations treated to make them water-repellent. An annex for the shop building, build-ing, to house the planing mill is under construction. No extensive ex-tensive remodeling is going on in other buildings, but new laboratory lab-oratory equipment is being installed in-stalled in the Chemistry building and the physics department. The agricultural building and the gymnasium buildings are getting by this year with a thorough cleaning. Construction is going ahead on the new field house, with one of the two main bleacher sections nearing completion, and cement work progressing all around. The stock shed adjacent to the field house is nearly finished, and is to be used for the Eighth annual Southern Utah Livestock Show September 10 to 12. The new 500 horsepower heating heat-ing plant is also progressing, and work is nearly finished on the upper floor of the women's dormitory. dor-mitory.
