Show PRIZE RAM BRINGS OWNER $400 ' v-tH hi t Dr. John Beal gooms his Rambouillet ram before entering it in the 1948 National Ram Sale, held at Salt Lake City, last week. This ram was purchased by F. R. Christensen, Sanpete County, one of the leading Rambouillet breeders in the state. The ram sold for $400. ft Cedar Sheep Men Attend National Ram Sale at SLC Several Cedar City area sheep breeders sold or purchased rams during the National Ram Sale at Sait Lake City last week. Dr. John Beal sold a prize Ram-bouillett Ram-bouillett ram to F. R. Christensen, Christen-sen, Sanpete county, for $400. Mr. Chirstensen is acknowledged as one of the leading Rambouillet breeders in the state. Also sold by Dr. Beal were a pen of Rambouil-lets Rambouil-lets for $150 each and a pen of range rams which brought their owner $170 each. The BAC sold a pen of registered register-ed Rambouillets for $160 each, which Incidentally was the highest high-est price ever received by the institution in-stitution at a National Ram Sale. This price, according to Dr. T. Donald Bell, was approximately the average price paid for rams at the sale in which some of the nation's best sheep were entered. enter-ed. D. L. Sargent sold several pens of Panamas and Panama-Ram-bouillct crosses at the sale which wee purchased for approximately approximate-ly $100 each. The BAC purchased one of the top Hampshire sires entered In the sale from the Hubbard Farm flock of Oregon. The Hubbard Farm is recognized as one of the foremost Hampshire breeders in the nation, and the new sire is expected to greatly raise the cal-ibie cal-ibie of the BAC flock. Various other Cedar livestock-men livestock-men were reported by Dr. Bell to have purchased rams at the sale. |
