Show Cedar Youths Return From Lovrv Field I Gary Macfarlane, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest W. Macfarlane, and Roger Matheson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Duayne L. Matheson, both of Cedar City, returned home Sunday from an Intensive two week CAP Cadet training course at Lowry Field, near Denver, Den-ver, Colorado. The two boys were sponsored Jointly by the Cedar City squadron, Utah CAP wing, and the local Elks club. The two youths traveled to' Salt Lake City and return by bus, sponsored by the Elks, and In company with ten other Utah CAP Cadets and two officers, flew to Lowry and return In a Utah National Guard C-47 transport. trans-port. Courses studied by the cadets were Aerial photography and complete photographing proced- ure, military courtesy and discipline, dis-cipline, flight control for a short time- of a C-47, Link' Trainer course, B-29 tour, jet engine principles, prin-ciples, 50 calibre machine gun both actual and remote control firing, M-l and 30 calibre carbine range firing, fire fighting school, methods of securing sustenance during emergencies, base operations, opera-tions, close order drill, meteorology, meteor-ology, and weather charting. Entertainment, with the exception excep-tion of regular post facilities, en-Joyed en-Joyed by the two boys, was a cadet dance, swimming, and an 11 hour pass to Denver. Dr. Paul K. Edmunds, Cedar City CAP Commander, upon the return of the two youths, announced an-nounced that any Cedar City boy is eligible to join the local Air Scouts, and that full particulars may be had by contacting him. |
