Show Accident Fatal to Cedar Farmer Accidentally thrown from a wagon while working on the K. L. Jones farm in Cedar Valley, Frank J. Ashdown, 66, Cedar City farmer died at about 11:30 a. m. Saturday. He was hauling grain when the team he was driving bolted, throwing him from the wagon. The definite injury that caused death has not been determined, de-termined, but he died instantly, making no move after striking the ground in his fall. Mr. Ashdown was born December Decem-ber 27, 1881, in Cedar City, a son of George and Elizabeth Jackson Ashdown. He had spent most of his life in Cedar City; engaging In farming and livestock growing throughout his life. He married Sarah Pendleton in 1902. She died in January, 1938, and Mr. Ashdown married Emily Jackson in 1914. Surviving are his widow and five sons, Vivian, Homcdale, Ida (Continued on Back Page) Frank J. Also surviving are several grandchildren, one brother, broth-er, Fred Ashdown, Cedar City, and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Terry, Cedar City, and Mrs. Fannie Stubbs, Cowlev, Wyoming. Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed Wednesday in the Third ward chapel with Councillor Fernlelgh Gardner presiding. Speakers were Henry L. Jones and Samuel F. Leigh; invocation was by Charles R. Hunter, benediction by Harvey Jackson of Toquerville, and the dedicatory prayer by I. E. Riddle. The musical program Included organ music by Mrs Cora Condie, a vocal solo, Abide With Me", by Mrs. Theresa Foster; a vocal solo, "In The Garden", by Ray Cosslett, both accompanied by Mrs. Beth Leigh; song "Though -Deponing Trials", by a quartet composed of Mrs. Esther Jones, Mrs. Golda Iverson, Herschell Neeley and William Condie, accompanied by Mrs. Cora Condie. |
