Show Army Enlists Six Local Volunteers If Cedar City wasn't too veil represented on Army Rolls last week, it certainly can take mow and justifiable credit for a larg--er share of the percentage point::, now; for six local young men stood proudly before Captain Rupert Ru-pert C. Henderson at Fort Douglas Doug-las last week, Tuesday, August 17th and took the oath that made them members of the new Army. All of the six men, when questioned ques-tioned as to why they had elected elect-ed to serve in the Army, said that they wished to further their education ed-ucation and technical knowledge under the new "Career" plan, a recent innovation of the service. The men: Robert R. Smith, Don Wood, Jack M. Webster, Gary Smith, Walter P. Merryweather and Kenneth L. Price, all were regular members of various high school athletic teams during the past three school years, with each of the six having played one or more seasons on the football foot-ball squads of theig, school. All attended Cedar City High School. |
