Show Stockmen Ready Plans Foi Annual Event Clarence Schmutz, chairman of the premium booklet committee, told members of the Southern Utah Livestock Show executive committee and the various committee com-mittee chairmen Tuesday evening even-ing that this year's book would probably be off the press and ready for distribution early next week. The stock show, this summer sum-mer in its eighth consecutive year, will open Thursday, September Sep-tember 9, and continue through Saturday, September 11. n'MH-bvO. The general program for this year's show includes Judging of all classes of livestock, Thursday; breeding sale and special entertainment en-tertainment features, Friday, and the fat stock auctions, Saturday. During the executive committee commit-tee meeting, considerable discus sion was devoted to plans for the second day events of the show. Douglas Clark, chairman of the entertainment committee reported that a judging contest for all 411 club and FFA participants parti-cipants in the show will be held Friday morning, followed by a horse conformation and performance perform-ance Judging contest. At noon Friday, the stock show officials will entertain the younger exhibitors ex-hibitors at a luncheon at the BAC cafeteria. Details for the primary ram and sheep breeding sale to be held the second day of the show have been completed by Harry Lunt and the members of his committee. The sale will follow a calf scramble in the BAC cam pus. A banquet honoring Cedar City adults and show visitors will complete Friday's activities. According to present plans, the city will provide recreational facilities fa-cilities for the FFA and 4-H exhibitors ex-hibitors at the show featured by swimming at the municipal pool. All officials connected with the show are now devoting a major portion of their time in an effort to secure adequate housing and corral facilities for both the exhibitors ex-hibitors and stock. According to Kimball Jensen, workmen at the livestock shed, under construction on the B A C campus, are doing everything in their power to complete com-plete the structure in time for the show opening. |
