Show FOEEST TIRES. Cotton Belt Region Enveloped in Dense Smoke. Memphis, Tenn., Nov. 2i. The entiie cotton belt region of west Mississippi and Arkansas is enveloped in dense smoke today as a result of serious forest fires which have been raging for three days. T.arse areas of timber are burning burn-ing and the fires have spread rapidly. Advices from Little P.ock. Ark., statu that fires arc burning in all directions. Between Memphis ami Littl- Kock. on the Choctaw railroad, the woods are m fire on both sides of the railway line, while the timbered section nortii of Littl' Rock on the Iron Mountain railroad i-- i burning. The fires extend as far as Wal- 1 ? nut Ridsre and the timber lands south- " west of Swifton are in flames. 1 At Greenville. No lives have been lost so far as is I known, but it is reported that livestock has suffered severely. |
