Show Immunization Clinii Set Here March II A special clinic to administer HiB (Haemophilus influenza type B) vaccinations will take place March 11 at the Public Health Office in Panguitch. HiB is a serious childhood illness, like polio, mumps, and measles. A new vaccine, now available to fight the illness, will be administered on Tuesday, with a statewide goal of vaccinating all two-year-olds in the state. HiB, says the Southwest Utah District Health Department, is the leading cause of bacterial meningitis, primarily among children under five years of age. Marjorie Ence, nursing director for SWUHD, adds, "It is also responsible for other dsieases, including: in-cluding: a swelling of the epiglottis, a structure located near the base of the tongue; blood poisoning; in-flamation in-flamation of the skin or connective tissues; septic arthritis; infectict the bone; inflammation of the ILv of the heart; and pneumonia.
