Show Middleton Named to Utah Energy Councfl George Middleton, former Garfield Gar-field County commissioner, is among eight new members appointed ap-pointed by Gov. Norman Bangerter to Utah's Energy Conservation and Development Council. The 13-member council includes four legislators, two members of local government, one from environmental en-vironmental interest, one from consumer interst, and five citizens-at-large. Beginning three-year terms along with Middleton are Rep. John Hollingshaus; Sen. Darrell Ren-strom; Ren-strom; Weber County Commissioners Com-missioners Robert Hunter and William Howell, representing Southeastern Utah Association of Governments. Other new appointees include Gregory Probst, co-chairman of the Solar Advisory Committee; Box Elder County civic leader, James Bingham; and Clara Price, Vernal, representing consumer interests. Sen. Glade Sowards will continue as council chairman. Also continuing con-tinuing on the council are Representative Ted Lewis, Reed Searle, and John (Jack) Redd. Council members are appointed by the governor and meet regularly to provide coordination of energy resource information, develop projections of future state energy levels, and research and analyze proposed energy development projects in the state. They also provide leadership in state energy conservation planning and promote and coordinate the state's energy policy through the Utah Energy Office. |
