Show Grandson Wins Scout Life Saving Award John Stephens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Damon Stephens, Springville, was awarded the National Life Saving Award from the Boy Scouts of America for his quick actions that saved the life of young Jared Hopkins last July. Young Jared fell into a fire in a steel shell fireplace at Cherry Park Campground and was immediately pulled from the fire by the young scout at a father and sons outing. The quickness of his actions saved the Hopkins child from scar-producing scar-producing burns on his face and neck and reduced the severity of most of the other burns the child sustained. The burns on his legs and arms were third degree. Stephens is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Worthen of Panguitch and Ida Mae Daugherty of Bridgeport, HI., who attended the award ceremonies. Also attending were his aunt and uncle? Mr. and Mrs. George Heidt, and his aunt, Janice Kay Daugherty, both Provo; Faye Worthen, Panguitch; LaRae Nay and Cindy Jerome, Salt Lake City; his brothers, Damon, Jr. and Wyatt and his sister, Stephanie. |
