Show Big Game Proclamation Available To Sportsmen The 1988 Big Game proclamation proclama-tion has been printed and distributed to all the license agents throughout Utah. In addition to the Big Game proclamations, the application forms for this Fall's special hunts are also available at all license agents. Big game hunters will want to consult the new proclamation prior to planning any fall hunting activities activi-ties due to the fact that many unit regulations have changed since last year. Your favorite unit may be closed to hunting, require a special permit, or be in some type of diversified unit system, such as an antler point restriction unit. Some of the major changes for 1988 are: all 14-year-old hunters who have successfully completed a hunter safety course will be allowed to hunt big game; a resident must purchase their big game or combination combi-nation license prior to Oct. 22; deer archery hunters may harvest a deer of either sex; hunter education certification is required for all hunters born after Dec. 31, 1965; and a variety of unit by unit changes have occurred. Sportsmen interested in applying for special permits for deer, elk or antelope will have until July 8, to have their mail-in-only applications in the Salt Lake City receiving office. of-fice. These special permits will range from $12 to $52 for residents; whereas, nonresident permits will vary from $12 to $202 in cost. As in previous years, sportsmen may apply as dual applicants, allowing hunting partners to remain together on special hunts. On Aug. 5, at 9 a.m., the 1988 public drawing will be held at the Salt Lake City Division of Wildlife Resources office to determine suc- ccssful applicants on the special permits. If any deer, elk, or antelope ante-lope hunt with a specified number of permits is undersubscribed, the remaining permits will be sold by mail-in application only on a first-come, first-come, first-served basis, beginning Aug. 15, unless otherwise specified by news releases. There are five parts to any recreational recre-ational experience the planning, the travel to, the on-sight experience, experi-ence, the travel home, and the recollection. It's time to begin that planning part of this fall's Big Game recreational experience. |
