Show Jolley Honored For 33 Years Of Service George M. Jolley, Angle, has been honored by the Garfield County School District for 33 years of service in the teaching profession. profes-sion. Jolley retired from his career in public education in 1986. He retired re-tired from Panguitch Elementary School where he had taught the fifth grade for three years. He received a letter of appreciation apprecia-tion from the school board for his untiring efforts in bringing quality education to the students in his charge. Fifteen of his 33 years were spent in the . Garfield County School system. He served as principal of Ticaboo and Bryce Valley Schools. He came to the Garfield system as superintendent superin-tendent of instruction before he returned re-turned to his first love, teaching. Along the way he taught at Utah State University and the Church College of Hawaii. Jolley also served as a teacher and administrator in the Iron County school system for 13 years. He spent 26 months in the U.S. Navy during World War II, 14 of those months aboard ships in combat com-bat zones. Jolley received his bachelors degree de-gree from the Branch Agricultural College in 1951 with an elementary education major and minors in industrial in-dustrial arts in social studies. He received a masters degree in school administration from Brigham A"' '"H I r ( i" " ' 4 , ' ' 'M V y ,4 ( . La George M. Jolley Young University in 1963, and earned his doctorate from USU in 1968. He is spending his retirement years on the Jolley family farm in Angle where he was raised. Jolley and his wife Bernice, an aide at the Antimony Elementary School, are the parents of five daughters and two sons. The family also includes 27 grandchildren living liv-ing in Utah, Colorado, and Nevada. |
