The final inspection for the town's sewer construction project is set for earlier in the day, at 10 a.m. In 30 days, the town will begin charging sewer users $16 per month for the service. At the most recent town council meeting. Mayor Wade Barney reported re-ported that Pete Monson of the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) said the agency will allot $3,000 to the town for construction of sidewalks at the community's new high school and will try to fund more next year to complete the project. UDOT will furnish funds for materials if the town will furnish the labor. The town will consult with UDOT before the project begins to iron out details. The Bruce Steadmans and the Bruce Phillipses attended the town council meeting to inquire about hooking onto the town's water and sewer systems for a recreation lodge they plan to construct. The Stead-mans Stead-mans told the council they anticipated the lodge would generate revenue for the town, but they were told that the town no longer allows water out of town. It was suggested to them that they petition to be annexed an-nexed or drill a well and use a septic tank. Gene Sandefer asked permission of the council to salvage the cast iron water pipe running through the Black Hills and was give a go-ahead from the council contingent upon Sandcfer's obtaining the necessary permits from the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. Metering of the cemetery water was again discussed by the council. Council member, and water superintendent, super-intendent, Stanley Stowe said the town's ordinance on water states the water superintendent makes the final fi-nal decision on whether water meters me-ters must be installed and that he feels a meter should be installed. Stowe said that if residents are to have water usage cutbacks, it is important to know how much water is being used at the cemetery. Engineer Ron Wolley said he is working on a funding package of 75 to 100 percent with UDOT for curbs and gutters on Main Street. The next regular town council meeting will be held July 5. |
