Show Wildflowers Signal Cedar Breaks Season In many years the official start of summer goes unnoticed at Cedar Breaks National Monument as winter snows linger on the meadows and in the forest. This year summer is being welcomed with an early start to the monument's renown wildflower displays. A few recalcitrant snow drifts remain in the shade of the trees as the flowers take over the meadows. The full flower display will not begin for about two weeks. Those who are willing to take the time can now find many subtle yet beautiful flower species throughout the monument. The Visitor Center is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Friday through Sunday and on holidays from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. The campground is also now open. The Spectra Point-Wasatch Ramparts trail is open and on the Alpine Pond trail, snow drifts remain in places on the lower trail. There are daily nature walks at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Evening program will begin June 30. |
