Show Area Residents Graduate From Dixie College Three area residents graduated from , Dixie College at commencement exercises held June 2 in St. George and two more were awarded certificates. Ralph Clarke, son of Mi, and Mrs. Michael J. Clarke of C&inonville, was named co-valediction of the graduating class where aftotal of 750 degrees and certificates were awarded. Clarke is a 1979 graduate of Bryce Valley High School in Tropic where he served as sophomore class president and was an active member of the high school band. He graduated from BVHS with honors. Before matriculating at Dixie he attended Brigham Young University for a semester on an academic scholarship. Attending Dixie College is a family tradition in his family. His father and mother and five of his seven brothers and sisters have all attended Dixie, where his youngest sister has enrolled for the coming fall quarter. After his freshman year at Dixie, Clarke served a mission for the LDS Church in the Japan-Tokyo North Mission. While at Dixie he maintained a 3.98 grade point average and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Following his graduation from Dixie College, where he earned an associate of science degree, he will continue his education a BYU after which he plans to enter the University of Utah Medical School to pursue a medical career. Graduating with Clark also with associate degrees in science were Carol Gardner, Boulder and Anavon Wiltshire, Circleville, who also was awarded certificates of proficiency and completion in graphic arts and journalism. Glen Listen, Panguitch, was awarded a certificate of completion in power plant and Leanne Peterson, Panguitch, was awarded a certificate of proficiency in general marketing. |
