Show Two Garfield Graduates On National Award List The United States Achievement Academy has announced two 1984 award winners for Garfield County among seniors graduating in May. Trudi Fagg, Hatch, a graduating senior at Panguitch High School, was named a winner in speech and drama and Stacey Davis, a graduating senior at Escalante High School, was named a winner in band. Miss Fagg was named for the honor by her speech and drama teacher, Debbie Pollock and Miss Davis was named by her band director Madlyn Haws. The award is a prestigious honor very few students can ever hope to attain. The academy recognizes less than 10 percent of all American high school students. The Academy selects USAA winners upon the exclusive recommendations of teachers, coaches, counselors or other school sponsors and upon the standards of selection set forth by the Academy. The critera of selection are student's academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and Improve, citizenship, attitude and cooperative spirit, dependability, and recommendation from teacher or director. Miss Fagg is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Fagg, Hatch; a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fagg, Draper and Mr, and Mrs. Cloyd Campbell, St. George and a great granddaughter of Effel Riggs, Hatch. Miss Davis is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Davis, Boulder and a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Davis, Provo and Mr. and Mrs. Max Jones, Provo. |
